Today, Monday, detailed engineering work begins on the southern part of the Las Salinas site, a task that is being led jointly with Las Salinas, in order to update the technical background on the topography and characteristics of the soil, in the preliminary stage of the implementation of the sanitation project. This will allow the schedule established by Las Salinas to be met on schedule. <\/p>\n
Part of the preliminary activities that will take place at the site will consist of a topographic survey, application of geodetection technology on the perimeter of the land and preparation of detailed engineering required for the installation of the work site, perimeter closure and noise mitigation closure, among others.<\/p>\n
Ricardo Labarca, development manager of Las Salinas, noted that “we are pleased with the start of this first phase of detailed engineering, as it is a big step in the effort of more than 20 years to recover the Las Salinas area. Our environmental and social commitment to the city encourages us to continue our efforts to clean up and recover these soils for various uses that will provide better opportunities for development with a better quality of life for the entire community.<\/p>\n
Las Salinas awarded S\u00e9ch\u00e9 Group the bid to carry out the remediation in the Pa\u00f1o Sur sector; the French company has more than 35 years of experience developing soil remediation initiatives, which is equivalent to more than 1.2 million tons remediated through bioremediation. One of its most iconic projects this year was the remediation of the swimming pool for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. It is also present in 15 countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina and Peru, among others. <\/p>\n
For Maurice Menadier, manager of the S\u00e9ch\u00e9 Group contract and who is carrying out the work in the field, this step “is necessary in order to build on S\u00e9ch\u00e9’s consolidated experience in remediation. A work that we will promote with the excellence and the environmental and social commitment that characterize us, in the southern part of the Las Salinas site”.<\/p>\n
IDOM Consulting, Engineering & Architecture also participates in the work as Project Manager of the project, providing advice and technical inspection to Las Salinas during the entire sanitation project. Mackarena Huenuhueque, head of IDOM’s technical office in Vi\u00f1a del Mar, emphasized that “the previous works that are part of the detailed engineering of the project will allow us to optimize the subsequent processes associated with the sanitation itself and to have more information for the execution of the civil works”. Through the Informed Community Program, Las Salinas will continue to communicate to its neighbors all aspects related to the land reclamation project and promote an open and continuous dialogue. Along these lines, Las Salinas is permanently developing various initiatives that provide information on the history of the site, the previous remediation stages and the characteristics of the bioremediation technique that will allow its definitive remediation, in a safe manner for people and the environment, and will reintegrate these soils into an urban vision that will allow the development of diverse city uses. <\/p>\n
