The project seeks to reverse the current condition of deterioration and abandonment of this public walkway, which is used daily by the neighbors of the sector as a connector between Santa Inés and the waterfront.

The 19 North descent project has several uses for the neighbors living on the slope of the Las Salinas sector: it is a pedestrian viaduct, it formalizes the evacuation of rainwater from Camino Internacional in a system that maximizes infiltration, and it provides a tsunami escape route. As Loreto Lyon, one of the creators of the project, points out, “this proposal allows us to combine all the classic functions that have been given to it over time and, in addition, transform it into an important piece of public space”.
The recovery of this descent seeks to be the base of pedestrian connection from the Santa Inés Community to Las Salinas and the coastal edge, complying, in addition, with those established for the sector. Site security was a key component of the design.
