The Las Salinas project obtained LEED ND GOLD V4 PLAN certification, the most updated and demanding version. Las Salinas is the first to obtain this certification in the Americas and the third in the world. Mahesh Ramanujam, CEO of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), received the award that certifies the certification of the Las Salinas project, which, in practice, implies validating the set of intentions of the type of city that is to be achieved. Therefore, for Inmobiliaria Las Salinas it marks the starting point to work collaboratively with the community of Viña del Mar on the project we want to develop for the future. LEED is a system that evaluates how much better a project is in terms that go beyond compliance with basic regulations; it evaluates parameters such as the location of the project, the quality of public spaces, parks or green areas, the amount of space dedicated to pedestrian traffic, regional materials and not brought from another part of the world, energy efficiency and water consumption. Initially it was conceived as a certification tool for buildings, but a few years ago it was decided to expand the area of influence to the neighborhood level, on a more urban scale, because it was understood that the most relevant impacts are at that level. Neighborhood certification is oriented to look at the urban scale, as an articulated unit; 50% of the points are obtained from the decision of the place chosen for the project and the other 50% is given by the project itself.
