It was conceived as a space to talk about the city and the region based on its main projects, including the future Barrio Las Salinas. The panel includes representatives of the College of Architects, the Chilean Chamber of Construction, the Federico Santa María, Viña del Mar and Valparaíso Universities, Fundación Piensa, the Chilean Navy and the region’s College of Engineers. The last meeting, held on August 22, was made up of architects and urban planning experts from the company. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate mechanisms to continue optimizing the new neighborhood project, capitalizing on this diversity of expertise and visions. One of the issues addressed was the potential of the new neighborhood, thanks to the possibility of attracting neighbors from all sectors of Viña del Mar, which would allow it to become a new center, combining quality public spaces with mixed facilities. In this sense, some attendees noted that the Población Vergara is more “depressed” and there is a potential for this neighborhood to be the new great neighborhood of Viña del Mar, with good public spaces and… . Another of the topics discussed was the opportunity offered by the openness to the community proposed by the future neighborhood, which -from the hillside to the plan- will generate social and ecological connection for the people of Viña del Mar. A park project would be the heart of the green areas system and will be supported by the urban project to be developed. Among the pending challenges, the possibility that the new neighborhood will be of , in order to keep it alive and active: and the need to ensure a Mobility strategy that contributes to discourage the use of automobiles, as well as contributing to solve issues of . The above, thanks to the creation of new roads and the incorporation and alignment of the neighborhood with city-scale mobility projects.
