Regarding the filing of an appeal for protection that a self-proclaimed environmental organization has filed today, October 22, with the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso, Las Salinas declares that to date we have not been notified nor are we aware of the arguments that would support such action.
If true, this would be the eighth time that organizations of this type, abusing the instruments allowed by our legislation, try to build artificially, with arguments used for convenience and that have been repeatedly rejected by various environmental and judicial instances, obstacles to carry out a project that seeks to generate a positive social and environmental impact through the cleanup and remediation of a site with an industrial past and that also has all the reviews and authorizations of the environmental institutions.
We regret this situation and confirm our commitment to move forward in a serious and rigorous manner to complete the reclamation of the land with a project of excellence, which complies with the most demanding national and international standards, with the greatest safety for people and the environment, and whose objective is to contribute to the integral development of Viña del Mar.
Once again we express our respect and confidence in the country’s institutions, and we will continue to inform the community with complete transparency about the progress of this initiative, which is a milestone in environmental regeneration in Chile.
