In order to discuss the possibility of offering the remediation of contaminated soils in urban areas as an alternative, the Scientific Committee that is working on the remediation project for the Las Salinas site was invited on December 11 to the Universidad Federico Santa María to give life to the scientific panel “”. Marcel Szantó, Luis Álvarez, Salvador Donghi, Michael Seeger and Roberto Orellana, led by journalist Maritxu Sangroniz, addressed various aspects of the subject: the vast international experience, the need to deal with environmental remnants, the opportunities offered by public-private partnerships in this area, the possibilities offered by prevention vs. remediation, among others. The activity was well attended by various members of the community – teachers, students, NGO members, companies, etc. – who had the opportunity to ask questions and make comments to the panelists.
